ASHEVILLE, NC July 27th – In an industry where more than 6000 accidents involving a solid waste truck occur every year, safety is paramount. In an effort to reduce the number of such incidents and reward employees for responsible behaviors, Waste Pro instituted a high profile Safety Award Program in 2004.
Last month, Waste Pro garbage truck drivers, Robbie Osborne and Timmothy Morrow, were the latest recipients of the $10,000 Safety Award, earned for flawless performance over the last three years. Unique to the waste collection and disposal industry, Waste Pro’s Safety Program has distributed more than $650,000 in Safety Awards to their drivers, since 2004.
These are the first Safety Awards presented at this location since the location was established in 2010 and brings the total number of awards in North Carolina to three. In May, Waste Pro presented its first Safety Award for North Carolina at the Concord location. The Awards were presented by Division Manager, Roland Joyner, and Regional Vice President, Bob ten Haaf.
In order to receive the Safety Award, employees must have a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents or injuries, a positive attendance record, and no property damage, along with a well-kept truck and a positive attitude.
Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned solid waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in eight southeastern states. Serving more than 1.8 million customers from over 500 operating locations, Waste Pro USA is headquartered in Longwood, Florida and maintains more than 250 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
