LONGWOOD, FL May 7th – Waste Pro has announced the addition of industry safety leader Larry Stone as Regional Safety Director in Central Florida. After spending more than 40 years in the industry, Stone’s new role at Waste Pro will consist of overseeing the safety practices and procedures of the Central Florida and Northeast Florida divisions.
Stone is a member of the National Solid Waste Management Association’s national safety committee, dedicated to developing the industries “Best Practices”. Having spent 25 years with Rumpke Consolidated Companies in Ohio, he, in 2004, received the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) Member of the Year Award for his dedication to safety and for development of the “Slow Down To Get Around” campaign. This pioneering safety program is currently in place in hundreds of municipalities around the world, including Cincinnati, Dallas and New York.
A native of Ohio, Stone has ventured into other public service positions throughout his career, including Fire Fighter/EMT and Police Officer. Additionally, he served as Vice President and President of the local business association for more than 10 years.
