Waste Pro’s CNG Facility Honored with Golden Hammer Award (3/18/2013) March 19, 2013 Golden Hammer Award FORT PIERCE, FL March 18th – Waste Pro’s recently opened Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling facility was presented with the Mayor’s Golden Hammer Award in downtown Fort Pierce at the monthly Coffee with the Mayor on March 15th. The award is presented annually, in March and September, in recognition of residents and business owners in the Fort Pierce area who have made significant construction or rehabilitation improvements to their locations. Waste Pro’s CNG facility officially opened its doors in August of last year. The first of its kind in the area, the facility boasts more than twenty thousand square feet of administrative and operational space, spanning approximately seven acres. Able to fuel eighty CNG vehicles at full capacity simultaneously, the facility is currently providing refueling for Waste Pro’s CNG fleet of more than 70 solid waste and recycling vehicles, in addition to the ability to refuel compatible municipal vehicles. The $15 million project was the first phase of Waste Pro’s $100 million investment towards the transition to CNG fueling. Construction will begin on similar facilities in additional Waste Pro locations, including Jacksonville, Daytona, and Palm Coast, later this year. “This facility is a great source of pride for Waste Pro and we feel honored to have this level of environmental commitment recognized by Mayor Hudson,” said Waste Pro Regional Vice President, Russell Mackie. Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned solid waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in eight southeastern states. Serving more than 1.8 million customers from over 500 operating locations, Waste Pro USA is headquartered in Longwood, Florida and maintains more than 250 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
