Jean Baptiste and Avery Gibson were presented with the awards during a special celebration in October. Being a garbage truck driver is the seventh most dangerous job in the United States, according to CBS News. To encourage drivers to maintain safe habits on the road, Waste Pro established the $10,000 Safety Award Program in 2004. Since then, more than $3.5 million has been awarded to drivers across the southeast. To receive the award, employees must maintain a spotless work record for three years, including: no accidents, injuries, or property damage, excellent customer service, a positive attitude, a strong attendance record, and a well-kept truck. “Jean has an outstanding work ethic and is always the first employee to lend a helping hand,” said Sanford Division Manager Eric Saxton. “And Avery inspired all of us when he overcame cancer. He’s a mentor to new employees and exemplifies the ‘Waste Pro Way’ in all of his actions.” About Waste Pro USA Waste Pro USA, Inc. is one of the country’s fastest growing privately-owned waste collection, recycling, processing, and disposal companies, operating in nine southeastern states.
