Household Recyclable Material is collected every other week on your normal scheduled pickup day.

Under Buncombe County’s new recycling program, recycled items placed in plastic bags (blue bags) are no longer accepted. All recyclables must be be placed in a Waste Pro-issued cart, which is labeled “recycle only.” Waste Pro will leave behind all materials not accepted in the program. The following materials ARE currently accepted in the curbside recycling program:
What May I Recycle?
- Metal Cans & Empty Aerosol Cans – Aluminum, Steel, Tin
- Plastic Bottles, Jars & Plastic Food Containers #1 through #7
- (Exception: black microwavable trays and Styrofoam)
- Glass Bottles and Jars – Clear, Brown, Green
- Aluminum Pie Tins and Food Trays
- Milk & Juice Cartons
- Newspapers & Inserts
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Mixed Paper:
- Catalogs, Junk mail, Magazines, Egg cartons (paper), Envelopes,
- Manila Envelopes, Office Paper, Phone books, Glossy Paper,
- Post-It-Notes, Cereal boxes, Brown paper bags, Paper towel rolls,
- Shredded paper (place in paper bag with top rolled down), Etc.!
How To Prepare Recyclables
- RINSE all bottles and cans – lids and labels may remain on.
- FLATTEN plastic jugs and bottles
- BREAK DOWN and FLATTEN corrugated cardboard
- SET your recyclables at the curb by 7 A.M. on your recycling day
What is NOT Recyclable?
- Aluminum Foil
- Dishes or Cookware
- Styrofoam
- Plastic Wrap
- Window or Mirror Glass
- Plastic bags (please take these to Ingles, Wal- Mart, Target, etc.)
- Light Bulbs
- Drinking Glasses
- Paper towels or tissue
- Black microwavable trays
Hours of Collection
ALL collection services will occur on Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. Waste Pro does offer containers for an additional monthly fee. Please contact our local office for pricing.
Solid Waste Holiday Hours
Services will NOT be provided on the following days:
- New Year's Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2025) - moved to Thursday, January 2, 2025
- Memorial Day (Monday, May 27, 2024) - moved to Tuesday, May 28, 2024
- Independence Day (Thursday, July 4, 2024) - moved to Friday, July 5, 2024
- Labor Day (Monday, September 2, 2024) - moved to Tuesday, September 3, 2024
- Veterans Day (Monday, November 11, 2024) - moved to Tuesday, November 12, 2024
- Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28, 2024) - moved to Friday, November 29, 2024
