Waste Pro Regional Human Resources Manager Named 40 Under 40
LONGWOOD, FL – February XX, 2023 – Waste Pro’s Central Florida Regional Human Resources Manager Samantha Barreiro has been named a recipient of the prestigious Waste360 40 Under 40 Award. The national award honors the next generation of leaders who are shaping the future of the waste and recycling industry.
Barreiro, a graduate of Florid Gulf Coast University began her career with Waste Pro when she was just 18, and still working towards her degree.
“I realized tuition, books and the cost of housing was expensive…so I started at Waste Pro one month into my college career and have been loving it ever since,” she said.
She went on to earn a BS in Business Management, and she has been with Waste Pro ever since, working her way up by getting involved in all aspects of the business, including personnel management, employee engagement, operations, customer service, and of course, human resources.
“I’ve had the opportunity to watch Sam grow from her first day on the job into her current role. She grew up in the West Coast Region and has continued to devote her time, talent, and treasure to learning more about waste and Waste Pro. I am very proud of her leadership development and commitment to our culture. Her future continues to remain very bright, and we are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful achievement,” states Keith Banasiak, Waste Pro SVP/Chief Operating Officer.
Since joining the HR team, she has distinguished herself by obtaining her Professional in Human Resources accreditation and being promoted to the Regional HR Manager of the largest region in the company.
In 2018, Waste Pro Founder and Executive Board Chairman John Jennings selected Samantha to be part of the company’s Leadership Initiative, which is a mentorship program designed to train the next generation of the company’s young leaders. She has also been highlighted as a Women of Waste Pro in June of 2021, spotlighting the ever-growing field of outstanding women in the solid waste industry that are part of the team at Waste Pro.
She currently serves as the regional HR manager for Central Florida, the largest region of Waste Pro’s footprint. She recently obtained her Professional in Human Resources accreditation through the Human Resource Certification Institute. Barreiro will formally accept her award in New Orleans in May during Waste Expo, the annual waste industry conference.
