LONGWOOD, FL – November 17th – Epoch Residential and Rollins College owned Samuel Lawrence Center and Sun Trust have implemented commercial recycling programs with Waste Pro in Winter Park. Once per week Waste Pro collects recyclables from the business locations for materials to be sorted and baled. Items typically recycled include aluminum, steel, plastic, glass, as well as paper and cardboard. The recycling program began on August 1st, 2015.
The first business to participate in the program is Epoch Residential, a full-service multi-family development, management, and construction company, headquartered in Winter Park. Employees are currently using 13-gallon step and sort compartmented bins, which help them keep solid waste separate from recyclables. These bins give employees a convenient, but environmentally responsible way to discard recyclables.
Emily Cichon from Epoch Residential stated they had concerns about commercial recycling and meeting the needs of their business since they were unsure how to handle implementation and were new to the overall concept. Cichon went on to express their appreciation for how Waste Pro assisted with the smooth transition.
The second business to partner with Waste Pro is the Samuel Lawrence Center, owned by Rollins College, which is home to 16 professional offices, and the third is the Sun Trust located at 400 S Park Ave, both managed by Rollins College Commercial Real Estate. At the end of each day, recyclables are collected from the buildings and placed into a 4-yard dumpster which can be found in the parking lot behind the Samuel Lawrence Center.
The Reduce, Reuse and Recycle mantra is fundamental to Waste Pro’s operation, as the company has been dedicated to “caring for our communities,” since its inception. With commercial recycling programs, Waste Pro seeks to expand opportunities for environmental stewardship, keeping in mind Florida’s goal to reach a 75% recycling rate by 2020. Commercial recycling programs help communities minimize their environmental impact by allowing residents of the communities to recycle at work.
Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned solid waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in eight southeastern states. Serving more than two million customers from over 500 operating locations, Waste Pro USA is headquartered in Longwood, Florida and maintains more than 250 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
