LONGWOOD, FL – September, 10, 2015 – In an industry where more than 6,000 accidents involving a solid waste truck occur every year, Waste Pro makes it a priority to reward employees who exhibit waste collection and disposal practices that are safe for themselves, as well as for the communities they service.
Angel Veloz, a garbage truck driver serving at Waste Pro’s Fort Myers, division was recognized for his flawless performance for the last three years with a $10,000 Safety Award bonus, as well as a brand new truck, worth $240,000, to drive on his routes.
He joined the Waste Pro Team in 2000 and is currently serving as a roll-off truck driver. Veloz is a 3-time Safety Award recipient, having received the previous awards in 2009 and in 2012, making him the first in the Company’s history to do so.
“Angel is a meticulous individual who keeps his truck immaculate,” says Regional Vice President Keith Banasiak. “Angel is kind, selfless, easy going, but most of all, a professional.”
Waste Pro’s Safety Program has distributed more than $2 million in Safety Awards, since the program’s creation in 2004. This is an incentive program meant to honor employees who continuously exhibit the Company’s commitment to “caring for our communities”.
Employees earn the Waste Pro Safety Award as a result of: a spotless work record for three years, excellent customer service, no accidents, injuries, or property damage, having a positive attitude and attendance record, along with a well-kept truck.
Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in eight southeastern states.
