In an industry where more than 6,000 accidents involving a solid waste truck occur every year, safety is paramount. In an effort to reduce the number of such incidents and reward employees for responsible behaviors, Waste Pro instituted the first, $10,000 Safety Award in 2004.
Unique to the waste collection and disposal industry, Waste Pro’s Safety Program has distributed close to $1 million in Safety Awards to their drivers, since the program’s creation.
In order to receive the Safety Award, employees must have a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents, injuries, or property damage, and they must maintain a positive attitude and attendance record, along with a well-kept truck.
John J. Jennings, President/CEO of Waste Pro USA, stated, “Not many people realize what a difficult job this is and Kevin seems to make it look easy. Those who have received this honor exemplify what Waste Pro is all about. At Waste Pro, safety is paramount and I look forward to distributing many more of these awards.”
