LONGWOOD, FL – January 27, 2026 – Shadyra Ortiz serves as a Lead Regional Safety Specialist (RSS) for Waste Pro, floating between North Carolina and Georgia. Reporting directly to Director of Corporate Safety Chrissy Lisle, Shadyra supports multiple divisions and regions with a dual focus on safety and quality assurance—ensuring drivers have the tools, coaching, and recognition needed to get home safely every day. She currently supports and collaborates with a team of six to seven RSS professionals while managing a significant workload that includes reviewing approximately 800 3rd-Eye related disputes per month, overseeing video safety audits, validating AI-assisted scoring, and ensuring accurate reporting and coaching outcomes.
Shadyra plays a critical role in the 3rd Eye safety program, Waste Pro’s on-board 360-degree external video system, by reviewing livestream and recorded footage to identify safety risks, rule misuses, and areas for improvement. In addition to 3rd Eye dispute resolution, Shadyra double-checks injury claims through Origami, completes monthly OSHA reporting, and continues to expand her knowledge of the business by attending Regional Safety Manager (RSM) meetings and collaborating with RSMs across the company.
“Safety is not the enemy,” Shadyra shares. “It’s what ensures that we have the proper tools in place and that everyone gets home safely at the end of the day. Cutting-edge tools are only effective if we use them correctly.”
Shadyra was introduced to Waste Pro through a friend and was drawn to the opportunity because of its remote flexibility—allowing her to remain a hands-on parent while contributing meaningfully to the company. After interviewing with the Director of Corporate Safety, Chrissy Lisle, and setting up her home office, she quickly proved that productivity, accountability, and remote work could go hand in hand. “What keeps me here is that Waste Pro feels like a family within a family,”
she shares. “They recognize effort, allow growth, and understand that family comes
first. I’m more than just a number here.”
Shadyra credits Waste Pro’s strong culture to leadership that sets the tone from the
top down. “There’s a lot of respect—from Romeo, our Vice President of Safety and Risk, his right hand, Chrissy, and to every level of the company. There’s no drama, just encouragement to take ownership and understand how your role makes a
difference.” Shadyra’s approach to safety and leadership mirrors that philosophy. She prides herself on being approachable, offering constructive feedback rather than calling out mistakes, and helping resolve disputes by considering all perspectives. She also credits much of her success to her entire RSS team, calling them her greatest support system. She appreciates how well they all work together and back each other up, and shares that the best part of her job is the people.
Outside of work, Shadyra has been married for 20 years and is a proud mom of two. Her daughter recently graduated from high school, and her 13-year-old son is excelling at art. While being busy with work and her family, she still finds time to work out daily during her lunch break, participates in a weekly book club, and is an avid reader. Her commitment to balance—both professionally and personally—reflects the same intentionality she brings to safety every day.
